information about the bryant elementary workshop

Instead of focusing on teaching programming like Scratch, StarLogo TNG, Alice, or Squeak, G-Sketch focuses on exposing the right operations to build games and simulations without [only] programming.

We do this by:

  1. Building on top of a powerful animation system
  2. Identifying higher level operations common to many games and simulations
  3. Exposing the operations through sketching

We are currently finishing the design, which includes:

  1. Evaluating the space of operations
  2. Understanding how people perceive the approximate dynamics ("intuitive physics")
  3. Understanding how sketching and animations are used to specify operations

Thanks to everyone who's been part of the interviews and planning! You can keep up with what we're doing by subscribing to gsketch-announce.
